The term "Shrub Rose" is a catch-all category for roses of blended ancestry that are particularly suited for landscape applications. Generally requiring relatively little in the way of care, these are relatively goof-proof bloom factories. Naturally, all Shrub roses are not suited to all climates - again, some research and trial-and-error are required to find just the right one to meet your individual requirements.
I have grouped the Polyantha
and Hybrid Musk roses
in this category, for they fit in terms of performance in the landscape.
Many shrub roses can also be trained as small climbers, "pegged down" or trained onto pillars.
